File gone (title now is longer than 10 characters, very useful feature)

#1

I was editing some custom syntax file last night which was located in
appdata/…/packages/user
Wake up to the file being completely reverted to the state it was when it was created.
Anyone can explain how did i lose all my painfully constructed regexes?

Ok to anyone who like me just discovered this amazing software that is too smart for its own good -
apparently if you have the file you are editing open in something else, like npp, sublime will silently fail to save the file, it will not notify you there is shared access, wont throw, it will do absolutely nothing, the only indicator is that those yellow change indicators don’t vanish when you hit ctrl+s, even tho the console states that the file is saved - it’s not.
So be ware, use shift + ctrl + s, and close anything else that can potentially cause you to lose data (because sublime wont help you by notifying or in any other meaningful way to the user).

Well now it’s unable to save even a simple text file located on secondary drive.
Judging by google ST has eternal struggle with saving, which put at risk my data. I understand that there are problems with windows file system… Yet everyone else somehow managed to solve them and you can’t. Ill have to stay on npp for reliability reasons.

Never experienced such kind of failueres during the lathst 3 years of using ST3. It sometimes struggles with deleting folders due to opened files, but I never lost file content.

If the file was open in another app it maybe was closed after ST saving an old revision of the file?
