At least once a day I am greeted with a popup to update ST3, however, immediately following my mouseclick to agree to download the update I receive a ‘Error: Unable to download update’ message. It would be great to find a solution to the issue of not being able to receive updates but quite honestly, I’d be ok with just being told how to disable the popup if it’s not going to be able to update.

If you’re a licensed user, you can add "update_check": false to your preferences to turn off the check. Otherwise you would need to do a manual update to get it to stop doing that.
If you’re not a licensed user though, the only way to get it to stop showing that message would be to upgrade to ST4.

You could always download and install ST4 manually if its only the automated updater which is failing

A program offering to update itself then erroring without a given reason when doing so is quite plainly not a non-issue.
