Editing html in older .inc files in ST3 is breaking pages

#1

So our built my company’s new website using your awesome Sublime Text 3 coded editor. Absolutely love it. Have for years now. Hoping others have ran into this issue before. Quick background here, my company has our own in-house CMS for our internal website, as well as for our clients. It’s built on a .NET platform, but utilized Bootstrap, etc. I’m only doing front end dev and design. Our CMS uses .inc (include) files and messages instead of .html files. Here is our new website’s URL: a2zinc.net/show6/public/enter.aspx

The issue i’m having is if I try to edit any “older” right sidebar .inc files that were brought over from our previous site, all updates look just fine in your “Sublime Text 3” code editor, but as soon as I upload the updated .inc file via FTP to my directory and then re-fresh my browser page, all of the content in the sidebar turns into crazy, whacked out characters and rubbish. So i’m left w/ a ton of right sidebars on our new site that still have the older content and styles from our “older” website. This is obviously no good. My company wants me to stop using Sublime Text 3 on the site now and use a loaner Windows laptop w/ Notepad++ to make the updates. They seem to think this is the answer. Well for me, this is not a solution (possibly a quick patch), but that’s about it. I work on Mac OS X w/ Sublime Text 3 and have never had any issues w/ either building our client or internal websites.

Again, the issue is only happening for the right sidebar .inc files (that were created by someone else) years ago. They had to come over when we launched the new site. Any thoughts or suggestions here would be deeply appreciated.

Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks so much.

I’m having problems understanding the problem here. Can you record a video of it?

Found out the issue all. So apparently FileZilla ftp users sometimes experience some character encoding issues w/ files that started originally w/ a backwards compatible UTF-8 as the character set. Crazy, but I found this finally online. So my solution has been to use a different ftp, now using Transmit and all is working well.

Thanks regardless.
