Dwelling on tab initiates drag

#1

Very often I click on a tab in the tab bar and it sticks to the mouse pointer as if I have clicked on it and started dragging. The dragging mode persists until I click the left button.

In some applications this is a desired function called dwelling. If I dwell on the tab long enough I can move it on the tab bar or drag it away to move the document to a new window.

If dwelling is a function of Sublime Text I cannot find how to regulate this function. It is as though for my settings I have a very low threshold of less than half a second to initiate dwelling. I want to increase the amount of time the mouse pointer dwells on a tab before the drag action would initiate.

We don’t have any “dwelling” functionality. Dragging is purely based on how far you move the mouse while clicking on a tab. What platform are you on and what version of Sublime Text are you using?

I am using Stable Channel, Build 4180 on Kubuntu 22.04.

I click on a tab and very often, after letting go the left mouse button, the tab is moving under the mouse pointer.

I have to move the tab back into position on the tab bar before clicking the left mouse button to release the tab. Clicking the left mouse button to release the tab before it is back in position on the tab bar creates a new Sublime window with the tab as the only open file.

Are you using X11 or Wayland? Does switching to the other still exhibit the same issue?

I’m using X11 and have never tried Wayland.

I just spun up a kubuntu 22.04 machine and I can’t reproduce this issue. Do any other apps you use have this “dwelling” behavior? Maybe that’s something you’ve configured KDE to do?

No, this dwelling phenomenon only occurs with Sublime. I have not purposely configured an app to do this. How it was introduced to my system I have no idea.
