Was this ever resolved? I am using Sublime 4107 on Mac and I also see the same problem. It should not occur, as I have this in my setting:

“create_window_at_startup”: false

It seems like an only Mac bug as it does not occur on Linux.

What setting are you using for "open_files_in_new_window"?

I have it set to this:

“open_files_in_new_window”: “finder_only”

There is a comment in the file that says, “On Mac, this value is overridden in the platform specific settings”. I wonder if that is occurring? Where would those settings be found?

Your local settings override the platform defaults. Try setting it to "never" if you don’t want to open a new window.
