Here’s a pretty good course to get you started with Sublime Text.

Thank you. However, Once I get my question figured out and I’m actually using the program this will I’m certain be helpful. Just to make clear I guess I wasn’t–I do not have access to the program–it did not create a short cut I have nothing to click on top open anything. Please what am I
missing–I downloaded and executed the installer, so it’s installed that’s all that I can say

Oh, sorry: you can’t start ST, right?

Which Windows are you using? Did you search for Sublime in your programs?

You may have a bad copy of Sublime Text, or you did not install it when you thought you did.
However, if this is not the case, here is what to do to get a shortcut on the Desktop:

  1. Go to C:\Program Files\Sublime Text 3 in Windows Explorer
  2. Open that folder
  3. Find the file sublime_text.exe
  4. Select and right-click on that file
  5. Choose “Create Shortcut” from the list
  6. Answer “Yes” when it says “Create Shortcut on Desktop?”
  7. Go to your Desktop

Very strange indeed. There is not an .exe see attached photo. I’ve tried diwnloading version 2 and Windows without the 64 bit processor they’re all the same.

Grr why me!

You have configured “Hide known file extensions” in your windows explorer. The sublime_text is the sublime_text.exe, but you just don’t see the .exe. Just double click on sublime_text with the Sublime Text icon.

nice thank you,I think we keep getting closer to the path–however, the default must be hide known extensions, I wouldn’t know where to set that and would prefer them to show. But nonetheless, when I click on sublime.text 5 from the bottom, the browser opens to a black screen–it does look like it begins on a line one–there’s something very faint there I cant see it, but it’s not what we’re looking for that I can tell.

hmm I dont want to look like an idiot–but this dark browser that opened maybe the txt editor.it titled "sublime text (unregistered). you can type in it. I’m sry for sounding like an idiot but this has just not gone as expected and I never used this before and dont know what the end result to look like. Is this it?? a dark screen as I described and now I have pinned a black square with an orange S on my task bar. is this it???

You set it in the View menu of Windows Explorer.

Windows-Shift-S will get you an easy to look at screen capture
Anyway, on the same line as it says “sublime_text” it also says “Application”. Use sublime_text for your desktop shortcut.
