While I like tabs for web browsing, for document selection I really want the option of a selectable document list in the sidebar. It’s easier to eyeball for the file you’re looking for when there are several open, and it would save vertical screen real-estate without eating up horizontal real-estate (since it could be placed above the mini-map view that’s already in the sidebar).

You can turn the tabs off (View/Tabs) and use ctrl+shift+o to navigate between files by name using the quick panel.
