I’ve noticed an odd behavior in this mode that I can’t seem to pin down.
When I go to distraction-free mode, as I reach the wrap_width character limit, the left margin seems to ‘bounce’ one character over, until another character is entered, at which point the word wraps and the left margin is back to its normal position.
I’ve tried changing the wrap_width limit, seeing if a different number might help, with limited success. (On my laptop screen, ‘54’ works, whereas on the monitor connected to the laptop, ‘53’ seems to be better. Both screens are the same overall resolution, though there might be some dimensions or other technical differences between them.)
But I also wonder if this solvable more totally in another setting of some kind; optimally, the left margin shouldn’t change while typing, no matter what the wrap_width is set to.
This is a hard problem to search for, so if someone has seen this and solved while calling it something else, I’d love to know!
I’m running Debian Linux 12 / Bunsenlabs Boron, Thinkpad T15, ST Build 4200
