When splitting the view, it’d be great to optionally be able to display different areas with independent font sizes.

The font size you use can indeed be customized on a file by file basis, is that what you mean?
What’s not possible is multiple font sizes inside of the ame file.

Interesting! I guess most use cases would not require different fonts for the same file, but for different files with different content types.

As an example, open up an HTML file, and choose Preferences > Settings - Syntax Specific from the menu. In the window that opens, add "font_size": 30, to the setting on the right and save the file.
Now the font size in HTML files is gigantic, but other file types are unaffected.
