Dev Builds vs Stable?

#1

Is there a new stable release on the way? Seems like there are months between them. Should we use dev builds instead?

When the dev build gets stable, there will be a new release. Currently there are a few regressions regarding new features then it can take a while before a new stable build. I think Sublime Text team will take a new approach with Sublime Text 3. Then we should expect the next stable version of Sublime Text to be 3.1

So it can take a some more months while new features a created and tested (and then fixed its regressions) on the development build, then once the dev build is free of regressions a new stable version should be released.

You should use the stable build if you need something stable, as while you are at work. For example, use the dev build at home, and the stable build at work.

Whether you “should” use dev builds is a matter of which you prefer: early access to new features or a more stable, reliable piece of software. I use dev builds because I don’t mind frequent changes and occasional bugs.
