Deleting Cache and Index Folder on Mac

My Sublime Text 3 (2126) has been freezing a lot lately - I have read (forums) that suggest removing the Cache and Index folders (a post re problems since 3124). Is there any downside here? (Another forum post said - for PC running 3109 - Sublime would not work after clearing the cache)?

Have looked at the option of a fresh install (ie removing - after talking a backup copy - the Data Folder. The Mac has no Data folder but I understand that the documentation is worded badly and that the Data Folder is in fact the Sublime Text 3 folder.

I would rather not do a fresh install if the remove cache/index option might resolve the issue.

There’s no harm in deleting those folders, but if you’re seeing freezing chances are it’s coming from a plugin - you may be able to find some information about which one from the Tools/Developer/Profile Plugins menu

Thanks jps. I cant see anything in the plugin list (but I’m from a tech background). Only thing that stands out is the ColorHelper, LiveStyle and CodeIntel. Might try removing the cache/index folders and if that has no impact on crashing /freezing I’ll start adding plugins to ignored packages to find a culprit. Thanks for the help.

You should be using ST a bit, ideally so much that it has hanged at least once, before profiling events; otherwise you won’t get useful results.
There should be many more events profiled.

Thanks I see what you mean (as below). I went through my packages and removed a lot and the problem seems to have gone away (a lot of the linters which I dont use really being a beginner). Removed a lot of themes/colors and other packages not often used.
