You can try FileManager or SideBarEnhencements. The first one comes with the least required functions for file handling. The latter one provides a couple more functions. I personally prefer the first one as it doesn’t bloat the sidebar’s context menu too much.
In general one of ST’s strengths is its plugin ecosystem. But honestly it can be a bit frustrating and complicated at the beginning. It took me a while, too, to get used to it and learn how to make use of it.
Most issues or missing functions have been fixed by users by packages/plugins in the past.

Best solution to install them is using Package Control - the Package Manager for Sublime Text.
