Default Settings not applied

Some settings that are defined in the Default Settings file I have to copy and paste into the User Settings file in order for them to be applied. If i remove them from the User Settings file they no longer apply even though they are still set the same in the Default Settings file.

Here is a lis of settings I have had to put into my User Settings file even though they are the same as what is set in the Default Settings file:

{
  "find_selected_text": true,
  "scroll_past_end": true,
  "use_tab_stops": true
}

Again these are the same in both User and Default Settings files.

Are you on OS X?

Two out of the three that you listed have to be added to your User Settings to actually work/override system settings.
