Cursor Weirdness (Caret to Underline)

When I do split lines (Shift+Cmd+L) and edit multiple lines… as soon as I hit ESC, my regular vertical caret changes to an underline cursor.

If I use the menu “Select > Single Selection” it returns to the normal single vertical caret as expected. But for some reason, when I hit ESC, it goes to underline (which behaves slightly different).

The only way I can get back to the vertical caret is to quit and restart. Any ideas?

Same thing happens to me if I am in “insert” mode

Are you sure you don’t have Vintage package enabled?

I just had same issu, press insert key it will be normal again
