Commit message: Lines starting with '#' (comments) are not ignored

I have a commit template which is inserted automagically in version 2059. I like that, thank you!

However, my template includes lines starting with my comment character (the default one, #) which are now included in the commit messages — which differs from the behaviour on e.g. the command line, where they are excluded.

I unfortunately could not find a setting such that lines starting with # in the commit message are excluded/stripped out.

I also could not find a setting to add --cleanup=strip, which would have worked too (I think).

Is there one way or another to exclude lines starting with the comment character from the commit messages entered in the commit messages textbox?
