I may just be doing something wrong, but I’m perplexed by an inability to display combining characters + diacritics correctly. For example, if I type somethinɡ like the followinɡˡ
ẁ w̏ w̄ w̃ w̪ w̻ w̯
̆(that is, a series of w’s with combining IPA diacritics), it is actually displayed as follows:
w ̀ w ̏ w ̄ w ̃ w ̪ w ̻ w ̯
(that is, with the diacritics after the combining character).
If I copy the text and paste it into another program, such as TextEdit or Chrome, the diacritics automagically combine correctly. What am I doing wrong??! Do I need to use some special font or setting to get these to combine correctly?
