Clone Github Repo, Error: git failed with exit code 1

#1

OS: Fedora 29 KDE
SLM: Stable channel, build 1084

Hello,

New to the world of git, github and sublime. I have installed Sublime Merge and am trying to connect it to my new/first Github repo for the first time (simple, contains a readme, gpl v3 licence and a single .sh file). I have no other repos connected and have only ever opened SLM, I havent made any modifications or customizations to it.

I copied the https link provided by my repo’s “Clone or Download” green button on Github. In SLM, I have that URL pasted into the “Source URL” field and in the path I have “/home/username/Code/Projects/the-repo-name” where “the-repo-name” is light grey text. The path “/home/username/Code/Projects/” already exists and is owned by the user I am logged in as.

I then hit the light green “clone” button in SLM and immediately receive an error dialog stating:

“git failed with exit code 1”

I have tried searching online and in these forums for a clue as to how to fix the error but cannot find any information relative to my problem. Any help would be great, thanks.
