Change background color in a simple way

I’ve done some reading and also searched this forum but being not technical I’m a bit lost and confused between color, color sheme, Sublime 2, 3, etc.

I want to:

  1. change the color of the background of the active tab
  2. change the color of the default font

Is there a simple and straight forward way to do that? For example by adding a line in Preference > Settings User, instead of downloading package, editing theme or alike?

I’m using Monokai to edit simple raw text, for prose purpose only. No coding. And I’m a registered user.

Being a registered user, I am wondering if this forum is for user-to-user support? Is there any official support?

The only way to change the background color is to customize a color scheme or theme, depending on which backgrounds you want to change.
