Can't type when text is selected

Hi guys, I have a little technical issue here:

Sometimes when I select text, and start typing to replace it, the first two characters that I type doesn’t get written into the file, and I hear a beep sound.
Sometimes the two characters that I enter gets replaced by something strange, like: Å
It starts to get really annoying when I’m coding.

Is it possibe to turn this off?

OS: OpenSUSE Leap 42.2
Sublime: Build 3126 (stable)

That sounds very strange. Could it be that your keyboard is intermittently faulting? I’d start by trying another keyboard. It might also be worth booting a linux stick just to make sure that something isn’t borked in your OS.
