Cant show sidebar

I’ve tried downloading versions 2 and 3 of ST, but both can’t show me the side bar. In the menu, the option is grayed out, saying ‘hide sidebar’. I’ve pasted a shot. Shortcuts dont work too. This is happening on yosemite.

Aaahhhhh so you first had to “Show Open Files” for the sidebar to work

Well, yes. If you don’t have open files showing or a project open, then there isn’t anything to show in the side bar.

Yup, my bad I was just used to have the side-bar opened when I install Sublime Text.
