Can't get german dictionaries to work

#1

Good morning everyone.

My first question here.

I installed the german dictionaries (DE and CH) from github.com/SublimeText/Dictionaries. All 6 files (.txt .dic and .aff each). Downloaded and put them in the right folder.

Yes, I can select them under View -> Dictionary -> Language - German -> German (German_de_DE, German_de_CH)
Yes, spell checking is enabled.

To test I create a file with

Haus (german correct) haus (german incorrect)

dog (en correct dooog (en incorrect)

With the english dict active everything is underlined red except “dog”. With the german dic activated EVERYTHING is underlined red as wrong. (Everything I type in german remains marked wrong). This is true for all three installed german dictionaries. And for both ST3 and ST2.

I’m at the end of my wits here. Can anyone help?

Thanks, Stefan

Can't install new dictionaries
#2

This issue seems to hang for a long time (2013! Now: 2016).

But I also have a problem to get German dictionary running.

I tried many things mentioned in the internet.
Furthermore, I installed the package Dictionary.

In any case, I see these additional dictionaries in View/…

But I suppose the check hangs at the English dictionary which has been provided during installation.

If I disable the package “Language - English” (then do a restart of Sublime Text) and press F6, even Sublime Text closes.

Please, help with this.
I find having German Dictionay essential.
Up to now I spent a lot of hours analyzing this and it sucks.

Many thanks,
Thomas

I just found the following in Markdown (Standard).sublime-settings (User):

“spell_check”: true,
“dictionary”: “Packages/Language - English/en_US.dic”

So, this seemed to be to the reason, why the english spellcheck always was on.
