Cannot open folder in Sublime 4169 after switching to safe mode

Hi,
I started using Sublime (4169) three days ago. The first two days I was able to open folders and files without problem. Then I asked a question on this forum about my buggy key mappings, and someone suggested I try my Sublime in safe mode, so I did. Now, however, I can only open folders if I start Sublime in Safe mode. The file paths for these folders has not changed (although maybe safe mode does something with them behind the scenes).

Note, I removed the buggy package ActualVim. Does anyone know why I can’t open a folder now unless I’m in safe mode.

What process are you using to open folders, and how can you tell that it’s not working?

Apart from some package causing problems, the next most likely cause for thinking that folders are not opening when they are is usually that the side bar is closed, so it’s not immediately apparent that there are folders open.

I’m going to File menu in top left of Sublime and then using the Open Folder menu option. I can tell it’s not opening because it’s very different from the previous two days. In the previous two days, a panel would open down the side showing the directories and files in my project. But, as of today, once I started using Sublime in Safe Mode, nothing will show down the left side if I open a folder. It just stays blank.

Be sure you understand. I can open folders in Safe Mode, just not if I open Sublime in regular mode. Thanks

Does View > Side bar > Show Side Bar do anything for you? You will need to do it after you open a folder, unless you also choose the option in that same menu to show open files.

The side bar won’t appear if there is no folder open and the option to show open files is off. If however the option to show open files is on or there is folder open, the side bar can be toggled open and closed to save on screen space.

Thank you very much. That was the problem. However, I didn’t have to start doing that until now.
