Cannot create new file in specific folder using sidebar menu

Hi. Working with laravel on Windows 10 computer.
When wanting to create a new file in a folder in sublime text using the folder menu instead of showing a new file name at the bottom as it does for creating a new folder sublime text goes straight to the “untitled” document. Furthermore, when going using File> save as sublime text goes to the root folder rather than the subfolder I want it saved in. Are there any fixes for this??

are you running into this perhaps because it seems to work as expected when I try:

Issue: Default save location not populating right when working with multiple windows

otherwise, maybe a plugin that overrides the context menu’s new file entry could be useful for you, maybe try:
