while this would not work in a true entiprise situation im sure you could come up with a variation of it that would work for you but…
I do all of my development on my laptop. Im currently developing android code which I then test using the android emulator. This emulator is REEEEEEELLL SSSLLLOOOOWWW on my laptop so… i open a VNC session to my desktop (4.7ghz, 64 gigs of ram) and run the emulator there. I do not have to copy the compiled apk over to the desktop because I sshfs mount my laptop project directory onto the desktop machine.
I can now open an editor on the desktop and edit my laptop source files directly, compile those sources and run the emulator. the files all exist on my laptop yet im doing the work from my desktop (thou i usually only compile and test from the desktop, i still do the actual edits on the laptop
This might work for you… nfs/sshfs mount the headless servers directory onto some local mount point, open ST3 and edit files to hearts content.
