That would be so convenient for my sanity and my coding. Even if it added a second or two to the switching while it swapped out the history buffer.
It would be so awesome.

I would also appreciate something along these lines. Having a constant undo history that carries over from session to session is a must-have for any editor I think.

Have you heard about version control software? Keeping an edit history indefinitely almost begs for memory issues.
