Can I request a license key for ST3 and older versions?

#1

I bought a bundled personal license for Sublime Text 4 & Sublime Merge on June 28, 2023,
and I have been happily developing on ST4 for the past year.

Recently, I took over some old projects whose development environment requires ST3, but
the bundled license cannot be registered on ST3 and earlier versions. In order to maintain
harmony and consistency with other members of the team, I need ST3.

Can I request a license key for ST3 and older versions? Although I can choose a free evaluation,
the software always pops up dialog box, which makes me feel annoyed !

I have emailed "sales@sublimetext.com", but they haven’t responded to me in the past few
days, so I’m asking here.

I’d probably be curious as to what aspect of those old project requires ST3 and that cannot work with ST4.

The main reason is that they are unwilling to pay for ST4, but I personally paid for ST4. I can’t be special in the team, otherwise… (haha… )

The old project is short-term and delivered once. It does not require long-term maintenance, so this may be the reason why they are unwilling to pay for ST4.

Finally I got a personal license of ST3 version through sales,
thanks to the sales team of Sublime HQ Pty Ltd

Cheers! I wish Sublime Text & Sublime Merge will become more and more awesome!

@agiopnl: FWIW, I don’t think this would be allowed by the EULA of the license.

Don’t sell your ST3 license, I just treat it as a joke.

If it’s not an old project, if it’s not to maintain the harmony and consistency of the team, I won’t use ST3!

I bought the ST4 license, and I have been using it for my personal development. I just have to use ST3 for compatibility with other members of the team. This is a helpless choice

I have purchased ST4 license. Generally speaking, outdated and old software versions are allowed.

Other commercial software, such as BeyondCompare, is like this. Its official website clearly states that if you purchase a new version, you can request an old key license.

If I did not purchase ST4 license, that’s another story …

I see your point, just responded to the other user as I was thinking about what they wrote and checked the EULA.

AFAIK it used to work with old ST licenses (even it wasn’t stated anywhere I think?), but there was an internal change of the licensing implementation which resulted in new licenses being not compatible with older versions.

Anyway, hope that you’ll get the chance to use ST4 future projects
