Can arrow keys move over soft tabs with one stroke?

#1

I’d like to press a left/right arrow key once and move from one side of a soft tab (2 or 4 spaces), rather than having to hit the arrow key 2 or 4 times. This would be the behavior in TextMate, for example.

Trying out Sublime and loving it, thanks!

I second this request. I just moved over from TextMate and am loving almost everything about Sublime Text except this missing functionality. Is there at least some other keystroke I can use to move across soft tabs quickly?

Thanks!

+1.

I’m also a long time TextMate 1.5 hold out and this is one of the biggest things preventing me from moving across to Sublime.

I’m going nuts on projects using spaces for indenting now.

Hi everyone,

I have written a minimal package that makes the arrow keys treat soft tabs like hard tabs and it has just been added to Package Control. I would appreciate it if I can get feedback on it: https://packagecontrol.io/packages/Atomic%20Soft%20Tab%20Nav

I have only tested it on Sublime Text 4 so if you use older versions Sublime Text you can download it from https://github.com/ruiokada/sublime-text-atomic-soft-tab-nav/releases/tag/1.0.0 and drag + drop it into your Packages folder.
