Build 3114 Slow in El Capitan (OSX 10.11.5)

#1

Slow means scrolling is sluggish, goto and search is also sluggish. The worst is when I drag to select text, the highlight visibly lags behind cursor. Also sidebar animation is not smooth.

I had to downgrade to 3103 to get things back to normal. I noticed “OSX: Improved rendering performance, especially on high resolution screens” for 3114, I’m afraid that’s not working as expected, I’m using 15" macbook pro with 2880 x1800 resolution.

Running MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015) OS X 10.11.5 resolution 2560 x 1600, haven’t had any problems yet. Have you tried reinstalling the update to see if it reproduces?

-Edit: just realized I am on 3113 from https://www.sublimetext.com/3dev not on https://sublimetext.com/3 with the new release. derp, downloading and will see if I have the same experience

-Update: Scrolling seems just as snappy as before, goto, search and dragging the same

3114 is just 3113 rebadged for the public beta.

Ahhh, well then that explains me noticing no differences. So many dev builds have been pushed since the last public that I often forget to check anywhere but the dev page… Plus if on 3113 it will say you have the latest version.

Is the indexer running? If so, you’ll see a percentage in your status bar. By default the indexer uses one processor per core, and if you have a very large project, sometimes the indexer process can cause responsiveness issues with the UI thread.

You can tweak the index_workers setting to a number lower than the number of cores. I generally find this to be a good setting for laptops since it doesn’t spin up the fan like using all cores does.

I regularly use a 2013-vintage 15" macbook pro with the built in display and an external 4k and haven’t run into any scrolling issues or UI lag.

I just reinstalled the update again that seemed to fix it. How weird.

Glad to hear. Think I’ve noticed a bit of a performance boost (as per the documentation this was added for OS X), but could be my mind playing tricks on me as Sublime has always been very fast for me.
