Boxes around Selected Word

I just upgraded to ST3 from 2 and find the boxes around the currently selected word kind of annoying.

ST2 had it as well but it was more subtle or perhaps behaved slightly differently.

Anybody know how I can disable or style it? See “Preferences” in this screen shot.

Any help much appreciated.

I’m not sure what they are called so having trouble searching for it.

I found that the box is styled the same colour as the caret, but it would be nice to be able to disable it or change the background instead of the wonky outline.

it can be disabled and even improved with word highlighter package

thanks for the tip. I installed Word Highlight package and cant see any options to disable it.

“draw_ountlined”: false seems to do nothing.
