Hello I have a large blank area to the left of the line numbers. I don’t know what this area is called to look up how to get rid of it. Can someone please point me in the right direction?

Set "draw_centered": false in the preferences. Perhaps you have a plugin which overrides this setting for certain views? In that case, maybe there is a setting to configure it in the plugin. Btw, there are no line numbers in your screenshot (at least not the ones that can be displayed in the gutter natively by Sublime Text).

That did the trick, thanks.
Indeed I don’t have line numbers for that file but do on my python scripts. Both Markdown and Python look correct now.

Those “visual tweaks” are applied by MarkdownEditing 2.x
Those will be removed as of 3.0
