Autocomplete doesn't autocomplete at all

I’m a newbie with Sublime software, so may be it’s a stupid question, but autocomplete doesn’t work here for me at all. As I start typing an existing variable, autocomplete opens, I see that variable in the list and select it, but when I press Enter or Tab the whole thing I’ve been typing just disappears.

I’m using build 3126.

Ok, I’ve found the cause. In the script language I work with, numeric variables should begin with $ and it seems that $ sign causes autocomplete to erase a string as I press Enter. Isn’t there a work-around for that in Sublime under-hood settings? Thanks.
