Arithmetic Output Issue

Hello,

So I am new programming and have been trying to figure out a way to get an output of the basic arithmetic functions. After inputting the 2+2 in the input console, the output console shows the output as finished in xxx seconds rather than showing the result which is 4.

Any leads what could be the problem? Please keep it in layman terms as much as possible.

The Python interpreter executes your statement but hasn’t been told to display the answer or anything. Sublime Text’s build system doesn’t work like a REPL. If you wrap your expression in a print function call you will see the outcome:

print(2+2)
