Arc package corrupt?

#1

Hello,

I have a license for Sublime Merge which I have always used without any problems with both my Windows PCs and my Arch Linux installations.

Last night, however, trying to install on a new linux machine (with Arch) the latest version, the system tells me that the sublime-merge-2091-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz archive is corrupt and impossible to install. I have cleared the pacman cache and tried again several times, but the answer is always the same.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I just tried installing Sublime Text on a freshly installed Manjaro and it installs as expected. The same goes for Sublime Merge.

Your response was not without utility.

For “Arch Based” Linux there are two installation options: a direct one via AUR and one that involves adding the dedicated repo to /etc/pacman.conf.

The installation via AUR works (thank you).

The one via dedicated repo downloads a package that, at least on EndeavourOS, appears damaged or corrupted.

I’m noticing the same problem on Endeavour. I suspect the reason is a new series of checks added to pacman in version 6.1 and Manjaro is currently using 6.0.

This is what I see in my console after turning on the debug flags. The reason I suspect the pacman version being related is because I had a peek at sync.c between the 6.0 and 6.1 branches. The check for depends validation seems to only be in 6.1, but I’m afraid I didn’t dig much further. For the time being, I’m also using the AUR version.

Same issue on a fresh installation of Arch here as well.
Following instruction to add a feed and install from there fails with the same error as shown by @LuckyStoat or @Kyros. As well as the AUR version.

wget https://download.sublimetext.com/sublime-merge-2091-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz
sudo pacman -U sublime-merge-2091-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz
works and the application is running.

We’ve fixed this issue on our end.

Turned out we were missing a newline character at the end of our package description, which ends with depend = libcurl.so. This resulted in the pkg file listing libcurl as a dependency, but the pacman database did not list this same dependency. The most recent version of pacman added an extra check for the database and package listing the same dependencies.
