All windows resize to 800x600 ish

#1

If I launch sublime text after plugging my laptop into my external monitor every single ST4 window that I had previously had open now launches with a shrinked size of 800x600 ish. How do I stop ST4 from ever automagically resizeing itself when launched after a new monitor is plugged in?

Also: the jiggly bouncy popup this forum now does and KEEPS DOING over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over … until I have selected a category or entered enough text to post makes me never want to come back here ever again. SERIOUSLY FREEKING ANNOYING, please stop this

What operating system are you using? It’s usually the operating system’s responsibility to resize and move windows when displays are added/removed.

Gentoo Linux

This only happens with sublime text and only if i launch it after plugging an external monitor in

Which DE are you using? Wayland or X11?

Fwiw I don’t know what popup you’re referring to on the forum, a screenshot might be helpful.

I am using Cinnamon Desktop which I believe is using wayland. I will try get a screen shot of the popup

Saw it originally when I entered the initial post in this thread, went to create a new thread and POOF no jiggly bouncy popup. They were right next to the place that needed to be adjusted and jiggled and bounced and even if you closed them they would open back up and jiggle and bounce CONSTANTLY until what ever issue they were flagging had been addressed… Did someone who manages the forum see my post and silently fix it?

I don’t think it’s possible for ST to even react to a display change under wayland.

That sounds like a horrendous deficiency with wayland! Why the bleep would anyone adopt it if applications cant respond to display changes at all?

All I know is that plugging in or unplugging my external monitor affects a change in window size if the sublime text is not already running.

I.E. Exit sublime text, plug in or unplug monitor, launch sublime text and boom the sublime text window is approx 800x600 every time.

Wayland has a lot of deficiencies, yes. (As does X11, but they’re different in nature)

I.E. Exit sublime text, plug in or unplug monitor, launch sublime text and boom the sublime text window is approx 800x600 every time.

To clarify, if you restart ST without changing monitors it restores the window size correctly?

not sure what “order of operations” you mean here,

plug in monitor, launch ST, see 800x600, quit st at 800x600 and it remembers / saves this size
