A little confusion about file permissions on macOS

#1

Should I authorize these permissions under Security and Privacy in macOS System Preferences?

I am very confused now, because sublime can be used normally no matter whether I authorize it or not.

So what exactly are these permissions for? I’m a little worried about failing to save some important content due to the lack of certain file permissions someday.

Without those permissions ST won’t be able to read or write to files in those directories. Note that usually macOS will ask you to grant permission before letting ST open anything there.

But the problem is that even without permissions, sublime can still read and write files in the corresponding folders normally.

I finally figured out the file permissions of macOS. Non-sandboxed applications can read and write files in the user’s directory normally.
