A few quick editing questions

#1

I’ve got a couple quick questions about editing that I haven’t been able to find answers to.

1- Is it possible to disable deleting or replacing highlighted text? I’d rather be very explicit about that, rather than being able to accidentally highlight stuff and then delete it if I hit a letter key or something.
2- Is it possible to highlight the area in between the braces? (This is less important, but I like the visual representation of it. I’ve got the Bracket Highlighter package, and that helps. I may ask those folks directly if they can do it if ST can’t.)
3- Is there a way to set it so delete and backspace delete all whitespace to the first non-whitespace character? I’ve seen people post about something similar, but it seemed like they were asking for special cases. I want to delete all whitespace every single time I use the normal delete keys.

  1. Yes, you can do that with a custom plugin and a generic binding, but it’s not an easy task. I don’t know of an existing plugin that does this.
  2. If BracketHighlighter doesn’t have an option for that, I doubt anything else would do it. I recommend creating an issue for this feature on the BH repo.
  3. Yes, that should be an easy plugin - or macro even.
