Won't start in Ubuntu 14.04

#1

I followed the instructions at https://www.sublimetext.com/docs/3/linux_repositories.html

after sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install sublime-text
my old icon was changed and I clicked on the new icon and waited. No window.
I tried to follow the process in top. No luck.
I then ran sudo apt-get remove --purge sublime* and re-installed.
Nothing.
I then removed again and downloaded the gzip tarball and no help.

I seem to have the same problem as is mentioned in Sublime Text (all versions) won’t start, problems with GLib

Where is the last version so I don’t waste any more time with this?

Thanks. I did not add the dev channel. I should have made that clear in my first post.
Even when I download the gzip taball and run from that, there’s no output and no window.
I can’t even run an earlier version.

weird, you could try reverting to a fresh state

I solved the problem.
I uninstalled sublime one more time.
I moved my config folder to sublime-text-3-is-dead.
I located ever instance of the word “sublime” on my system and remove it.
I rebooted.
I had an old .deb package (sublime-text_build-3126_amd64.deb) and installed that.
I then opened subl from the terminal and told me that there was a new package that I should download (that’s not going to happen, so devs: remove the prompt) and it informed me that I was not registered.
I exited, removed the sublime-text-3 folded that had been created and moved sublime-text-3-is-dead back to sublime-text-3, started.
I’m back and running.

One thing further.
Without an organized way to submit the logs to the development team (or to even know where they’re stored) using us a guinea pigs on partially tested software is not useful
