Sublime Text 3 3145 and above doesn't start on CentOS 7

Just does nothing:
$ /opt/sublime_text/sublime_text
$ /opt/sublime_text/sublime_text -h
Sublime Text build 3145

The same thing happens with the version 3147

I downgraded to 3144 (latest working version):
$ sudo yum downgrade https://download.sublimetext.com/sublime-text-3144-1.x86_64.rpm

$ uname -a
Linux DESKTOP-CH02O5M 3.10.0-693.2.2.el7.x86_64 #1 SMP Tue Sep 12 22:26:13 UTC 2017 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

does running subl instead of sublime_text make any difference?

I know that there are problems on 3 year old versions of Ubuntu:

looking at the rpm and deb with 7zip, it looks like subl is in /usr/bin/
