Sublime Delete and Install Problems

#1

I’ve installed Sublime Text 2 (64bit) four times; due to a abrupt failure of Sublime. Before attempting to install Sublime Text 2 (64bit) I want to remove the folder in Program Files; I’m denied because the folder or file is open in another program; there is no other program open, including Sublime ?

I proceed with installing Sublime Text 2 (64bit) which is going to override the folder to which I’m unable to delete located in program files. I get an error to which, while trying to replace the existing file Delete File failed; code 5 Access is Denied. I’m running the installation as an Administrator, why all the grief for something that should be simple, and this only happens with Sublime Text 2 ?

It sounds like sublime_text.exe is still running. You can either check this in Task Manager, or just reboot.

Note that to get back to a clean slate, you probably want to be following these instructions rather than reinstalling: https://www.sublimetext.com/docs/2/revert.html

I honestly don’t have a data sub-folder within the Sublime Text 2 %AppData% folder ?

As well, I’ve double, triple checked the Task Manager and there is no Sublime Text 2 running in the back ground ?

To find the process that has a lock on the file or folder, you can try these instructions:

Full installations of Sublime Text on Windows don’t have a directory called Data anywhere. I think for ST2 it was %LOCALAPPDATA%/Sublime Text 2. That’s the Data folder.

I was able to successfully uninstall Sublime Text 2 and re-install and because of that, now Sublime Text 2 runs successfully.

Although I never had a Data folder before uninstall and after re-install in Program Files Sublime Text 2 folder as well as the %LocalAppData% Sublime Text 2 folder.
