Is there a way to debug a syntax highlight file? I want to be able to find out why Sublime chose to color the text a certain way.
While I'm on the topic, do I really have to shut down Sublime before I can see the changes to the tmLanguage file reflected?
No, you should see changes right away when you save a theme file.
I recommend a package called "scope hunter" to see what is what.
I am definitely not getting anything updated without restarting Sublime. Have you got an idea on why that might be?
Thanks for pointing me to Scope Hunter, that's a big help.
If you're changing a language's syntax definition (.tmLanguage) file then you'll have to restart sublime. If you're just changing the color scheme (.tmTheme), that should happen instantly, barring syntax errors.
Yep, I'm changing the tmLanguage. Annoying.
