Question about ST2 vs ST3 Plugin Development

I noticed the author of Sublime Productivity made a new book about plugin development, and was quite interested until I read that it targeted ST2 (with a couple of chapters at the end about converting a plugin to ST3).

I was wondering if people here have any insight in the differences between developing plugins for ST2 vs ST3, are they so close that reading a book that focuses on ST2 is worth it?

For me personally, the biggest change was moving from python 2.7 to 3.3. From my viewpoint, the API didn’t change much between ST2 and ST3, so reading a book about ST2 should be still worthwhile and I’m glad to help if you have any troubles moving from ST2 to ST3.
