Preferences.sublime-settings will be reset after dismissing update dialog

#1

Hi,

I recently updated my Sublime Text 3 on my main work machine (OS X) from 3083 to 3103.
After this update every Plug-in installed via Package Control has stopped working. First I got a ton of error messages, that a Plug-in timed out (or st. like that) and it will be disabled. After I dismissed every dialog all my settings in Users/Preferences.sublime-settings were gone.

I re-installed ST3 3083 and restored my settings… Then after the update dialog appeared again.
After dismissing this update dialog my settings were gone again.

Then I tried to start ST3 3083 on my secondary machine (Win 7) and my Plug-ins are still working…
But my setting are gone every time I dismiss the update dialog.

Is this a Sublime Text 3 problem or is this Package Control related?
I hope somebody can help me, because I almost can’t work any more :frowning:

Best regards

EDIT:
Now my secondary ST3 (Win 7) Installation is broken (without updating ST3). :anguished:
You can find a screenshot of this error message here…

I’ve just been there today.

After I started ST (3118), suddenly I got BSOD - not related to ST of course.

Then after restarting my system, when I opened ST I got reset user preferences - that is my “Preferences.sublime-settings” only had one line which sets monokai color scheme. Luckily there was “Preferences.sublime-settings.0.bak” file, which I copied to “Preferences.sublime-settings”.

Then I restarted ST and I witness myriad dialogs poping about a loop as in @theLine screenshot. Nothing I can do but terminate ST process. Try again, to see the same…

Trying to figure what to do I first removed all ignored packages like dialog suggested. But it didn’t help. Then looking in my local packages I removed Sublime Linter which I had disabled anyways as I find it slow. It seem like it triggered as right solution or coincidence, who knows… but soon I realized Package Control removed all my installed packages, and now I have none, except:

  • 0_package_control_loader.sublime-package
  • Package Control.sublime-package
  • Shell Turtlestein.sublime-package

Any ideas what might have happen and way so that I dont have to experience the same again? It is probably related to BSOD, although IMHO sudden system crash should not be causing such problems.

Also what to do next? I dont have exact names of all packages I have had installed?

Listing *.sublime-settings files in Packages/User folder seems like a good start :unamused:
