My ( won't function inside of Sublime text 3

Hey everyone I have noticed that on both of my computers with bog standard sublime I am unable to use the ( character for whatever reason though I am able to use the ). This is definitely not a problem with my keyboard as I can still use these characters in other apps. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey I ran the command to get key presses and it returned “chr evt: ( (0x28)” which to my noobish brain says sublime can detect ( as a character and not a key or binding. Whats your take?
