CPU Usage Spike for Sublime Text 3 on macOS (maybe resolved)

#1

I found that every so often, CPU Usage for Sublime Text 3 on macOS spikes and renders the application unusable. It wasn’t related to indexing and I would have to reboot the machine in order to resolve the issue.

The past few times I’ve noticed the CPU spike, it corresponds with similar usage spikes with an fsavd process. (This is from F-Secure Computer Protection.)

It turns out that this Sublime Text CPU spike occurs when F-Secure Computer Protection is updating its database.

Strange issue. Not sure why the database update would impact Sublime Text 3.

I don’t think so.

I noticed the same problem but start to get this when I didn’t allow the “Access to my Calendar, Photos and Contacts”.

CPU is 150% and I don’t have F-Secure Computer Protection.

Did Sublime Text ask for access to your calendar, photos and contacts?

Yes, it did.

That sounds positively bizarre. What version of macOS are you using? Was this when Sublime Text opened, or was there a specific trigger? Do you have any third-party packages installed?

using the latest version macOS Mojave.
Normally just “well known” packages like: Emmet

Here, the popup: https://dsh.re/77669

If I go to settings > security privacy > calendars, I also see that I disable access: Image: https://dsh.re/d5181

I’ve never had Sublime Text try to access my Calendars, Photos, and Contacts so I’m guessing that’s probably a package.

Why does Sublime Text want access to my contacts and calendar?

@patricksan You may want to check that your Sublime Text.app was not tampered with by malware (perhaps check with the MD5 of the executable) … back when I used a Mac I never had that happen.

Other apps did the same request. It is a “feature” of the new macOS where apps need to get permission to use calendar, contacts and photos.

I will check with MD5 but in my opinion is that sublime needs to handle this with the new macOS.
