Cannot evaluate under linux?

Hi all!

I’m attempting to evaluate Sublime Text 3 (3141) under Ubuntu 16.04, but it demands the license right away. Is this behavior normal?

I installed it via sublime-text_build-3083_amd64.deb first, but it said there’s a newer version out, so, I removed that one and installed the latest properly using repos. Now I can’t get past the license screen. Or should I have opted for the dev branch to evaluate, instead of the stable branch?

Maybe we need to create a sticky thread for this topic here, as this question is raised frequently.

Evaluation is possible with builts from stable branch only

Latest stable release is 3126

Everything newer is from DEV branch and requires license.

Hi, I downloaded Sublime Text 3 for Ubuntu Mate 17.04. When I run the program, it asks for a license, and I have no way to use the program without a license. Your download page states: "Sublime Text may be downloaded and evaluated for free, however a license must be purchased for continued use. There is currently no enforced time limit for the evaluation." So, how can i try it? Thank you.

I was positive that I went for the stable branch. Got it working now.
