Add file to .gitignore

Does Sublime Merge have a way to add individual files to .gitignore? I’ve used other Git clients that let you right-click and ignore that file, like in the screenshot below. Is there a way to get SM to do this?

No, not currently. There’s a menu item Tools > Edit .gitignore that will open the file for you to hand edit, though.

If there’s not already a feature request for this on the issue tracker, you could add a request to add this functionality.

Decided today to write up a simple ignore file & ignore directory menu item. Both commands are implemented using a git alias which also allows command line usage if wanted: ignore file: git smerge-ignore path/to/file ignore directory: git smerge-fetch path/to/file dir Notes/Caveats: duplicate entries are skipped when identified but no add/remove lines if the reverse logic is needed directories are always suffixed with / Steps: add this git alias: git config --global alias.smerge…
